In Phoenix, two officers suffered injuries after a car accident. Authorities say that two patrol cars had crashed into each other, resulting in two police officers sustaining wounds in Saturday.
According to Phoenix Police Sergeant Steve Martos, the accident took place on 15t Avenue and Washington Street at 5:00 OM. Both officers had approached the intersection and one is believed to have stepped on the gas, missing the brake, while trying to stop at a red light.
Both of the officers were taken to Phoenix hospitals. One complained of chest pain and the other complained of back pain. Martos said that a 16 year old who had been riding in his father's patrol car also suffered minor injuries.
On Saturday evening, one officer and the teen were released from the hospital. However, the teen's father remained hospitalized overnight.
