Lanes Closed after Deadly Auto Accident
In Phoenix, lanes of a popular roadway in the Valley were finally reopened after a lethal crash last week Friday. The Department of Public Safety said that both directions of U.S. 93 were blocked after a major car accident occurred between three vehicles.
According to a spokesman for the DPS, Robert Bailey, one person died during the accident. The crash occurred when 80 year old Arthur Bridgeforth veered left of the center lane and crashed into a Smart Car that was heading northbound. The driver of the Smart Car, 32 year old Zane Horton, died following the accident. He was airlifted to Valley hospital, but his injuries were too severe.
Police say that a Ford F150 pickup truck carrying five people was driving behind the Smart Car and involved in the collision. Bailey said that two people in the truck sustained minor injuries, but did not go to the hospital for medical treatment.
