Motorcycle Officer Injured during Collision

In Phoenix, it has been reported an Arizona Department of Public Safety officer suffered injuries during a motorcycle accident on State Route 51.  The collision occurred in north Phoenix during morning hours on Friday.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the injuries the officer suffered were not life-threatening and the accident took place just before 8:00 AM in the northbound lanes of SR51, just north of Greenway Road.

The DPS said that the traffic near the accident scene would be restricted to the HOV lane until around 11:00 AM.

DPS Sgt. Tim Kvochick told news sources, "Apparently a vehicle tried to change lanes from one lane to another and clipped the front end of the officer's motorcycle."  He did not have any details related to the officer's injuries, but said investigators were speaking with the driver of the truck who was involved in the collision.
