18 Year Old Killed in Accident on Her Way to School

On Wednesday, Quinton High School was closed after a student was killed during a car accident on her way to school.

Police say that 18-year-old Alyssa Kash died at the scene of the accident on Wednesday at 7:11 AM.

At the time of the collision, Kash was driving her brother and sister to school.  She had recently transferred to Quinton School and was a senior at Porum prior to the transfer.

Porum High School Principal Brent Pierce said, "She was a great kid, and students here are in shock but are handling it as well as could be expected."

The report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said that Kash was driving a 1994 Dodge on County Road 435 when the roadway changed from asphalt to gravel.  She lost control of the vehicle and ran off the right side of the road. Then, her car overturned a few times before coming to rest on its roof.   Police believe that she was traveling at a high rate of speed.
