Train and Truck Collide in Downtown Phoenix
According to the Associated Press, there could have been a huge, syrupy mess in the downtown Phoenix area this week.
Reports indicate that a semi truck and a train collided on Tuesday. The truck had been carrying corn syrup. While there have been zero reports of injuries, it is said that the semi was tipped on its driver's side across the train tracks.
Both hazardous materials and Phoenix Fire Department crews responded to the truck accident, which took place near 11th Avenue and Lincoln Street. The crews said the truck driver had unloaded the corn syrup earlier, so the back of his vehicle was empty at the time of the crash.
Workers later attempted to use a tractor to pull the truck off of the train tracks and to get the train moving once again. At this time, the cause of the collision has not been determined, but police plan to continue investigations.
