Teen Succumbs to Serious Burn Injuries
According to the Associated Press, a teen tragically suffered severe burn injuries during a grilling accident recently. After suffering injuries, 14-year-old Oscar Fuentes passed away on Sunday after six days of receiving medical treatment at Maricopa County Medical Center's burn facility.
Doctors told news sources that 85% of Fuentes' body had been burned on September 13th during the accident in Surprise. Firefighters say that the 14-year-old was grilling outside of his residence when he doused the grill with gasoline in an attempt to light the barbeque. The vapors from the gasoline wrapped around the boy's body and he ignited almost immediately, allowing Fuentes to become engulfed by flames.
Emergency response crews arrived at the scene and rushed the teenager to a Phoenix area hospital by helicopter. Fuentes was sedated and breathing from a tube due to the burns inside of his mouth.
