3 Way Crash Leads to Death
In Waco city a bus became involved in a three-way car crash, which ultimately led to the death of 24-year-old Michael Benavidez.
He had the bad luck of attempting to cross the intersection of S. 12th and Clay Avenue when a vehicle that was already involved in a police pursuit hit the bus, which hit Benavidez. Officers were attempting to pull over two suspects for a home burglary; they were later identified as Bradley Carpenter, 18, and Rafael Lara, 24.
In total, seven people were transported to Hillcrest Hospital with injuries from the car accident: one from the third vehicle, two from the suspect vehicle and four from the bus. Benavidez was declared dead at the scene.
Police are still investigating the three-way crash but have yet to press criminal charges against the car that caused the accident.
