Former Chief of Budweiser Settles Wrongful Death Suit
The former chief of Budweiser, August Busch IV, has settled with the family of the woman who died while at a party at his home.
This wasn't just any guest however; it was his girlfriend, 27-year-old Adrienne Martin. Autopsy reports showed that she not only had high levels of cocaine in her system, but had overdosed on oxycodone. As a result, she died in a bedroom in the Busch mansion on Dec.19, 2010.
His legal team has entered a settlement figure of $1.5 million for the wrongful death lawsuit filed by her family. Luckily, St. Louis County prosecutors cleared Busch of any criminal involvement in the overdose, making him liable solely for the civil suit.
August was the last Busch to run the beer empire before it was sold off to Belgian Brewer InBev back in 2008. That sale netted his family $100 million. Since then, he has announced his intent to step down from the board of directors.
