Collision Prompts Chain Reaction
On Friday, a car accident led to a chain reaction near 83rd Avenue and police say that following the collision, street power lines were carried on the bus' roof.
The driver of a Toyota Corolla had been traveling west when it made a lane change that was not safe. The lane change caused the driver to swipe the side of a minivan that was located in the middle lane of traffic. The driver of the van swerved and then crashed into the Valley Metro bus. Upon impact, the bus jumped a nearby curve.
Instead of stopping, the driver of the Toyota fled the scene of the collision, but was tracked down later by offered near 93rd Avenue. Despite the fact that the driver fled, police say that they do not suspect alcohol was involved.
People involved in the accident were taken to a hospital, evaluated, and reported to be in good condition with non-life threatening injuries. Authorities plan to continue their investigations.
