Drunk Driver Causes Major Accident
After admitting to being intoxicated behind the wheel, one woman could face several years behind bars.
The 30-year-old woman was heading south on a busy road in Phoenix when she did not stop for a red light. Instead of stopping, she crashed into a car heading east in the intersection, killing a 27-year-old female driver.
With the driver at the time were two adults and two children, three of whom were transported to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. A 2-year-old boy received critical wounds, including brain injuries that could have led to swelling and excessive bleeding. It is uncertain whether he will survive the injuries.
While officers were investigating the drunk driving accident, the woman finally admitted to police to having had five to six beers before getting behind the wheel. She has since been charged with one count of manslaughter and three counts of aggravated assault.
