The Associated Press reported that 69 vehicles in Phoenix were involved in at least three separate crashes on an interstate near the Phoenix downtown area during Saturday evening. Officers say that the accidents left several people injured and that two people suffered serious injuries. Six individuals had to be taken to local hospitals and several others were treated at the scene of the accident after suffering minor injuries.
The state's Department of Public Safety said a five-mile stretch of Interstate 10 had to be closed until 6:30 PM. The road was blocked off at Washington Street near downtown Phoenix. And on duty officer from DPS said the cause of the auto accidents still had not been determined.
40 people involved in the accidents still remained on the interstate for several hours after collisions. Authorities were seen handing out snacks and water and keeping people in air conditioned city buses until arrangements could be made to transport individuals home.
Police say they will continue to investigate to see what sparked the crashes.

In Phoenix, authorities are reporting that two people are dead after a single vehicle car accident, which took place last Friday night.
According to police officers, 35-year-old Shelly Skaggs and an unknown adult male were victims of the crash and were both killed. Police also report that Skaggs' 20-year-old son remains at a Valley hospital in critical condition because he suffered serious injuries during the auto accident.
At around 9:30 PM, a 2002 Mercedes was traveling westbound on New River Road and was supposedly speeding west of Interstate 17 when it failed to negotiate a curve. The car rolled numerous times and ejected all three occupants. The vehicle then burst into flames.
Police say that Skaggs just purchased the Mercedes earlier that day and they have not been able to determine who was driving when the accident took place. They are investigating as they believe speed and alcohol contributed to the collision.

| Chandler Police Receive Grant For Accident Reconstruction Training |
| Posted By Phoenix Personal Injury Lawyer |
 |
When a person is involved in a motor vehicle accident, they could be eligible to recover damages in a personal injury lawsuit. However, in order to win an injury or accident lawsuit to recover those damages, the victim must prove the accident was caused by the negligence or reckless actions of another.
As you can imagine, this can be difficult to prove. Often times the people involved in the accident don’t remember exactly what happened, and then it usually turns into a matter of he said she said.
And while the police do their best to write their reports as accurately as possible, sometimes it takes an advanced investigation to determine who or what really is a fault for the accident.
One way of investigating the accident is by recreating the accident. Accident reconstructionists are trained to recreate the course of events that eventually lead to the accident based on testimony from the parties and any witnesses, as well as other facts the police gathered during their investigation. By recreating the accident itself police are often able to identify the root cause of the accident and who is at fault.
As you can imagine, having a highly trained accident reconstruction team is invaluable to any police force.
Well, thanks to an $11,395 grant from the state Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Chandler Police Department now has the money to fund advanced traffic crash reconstruction training. Officers in the department’s traffic unit accident investigation team will now be able to take courses on advanced investigative techniques in motor vehicle accidents involving pedestrians and motorcycles.
